Choose your child's current grade level to explore spelling words and skills commonly practiced in their grade.
As your child practices, you can mark each word as Not Started , Practicing, or Mastered to track progress and see which words still need review.
Kindergarten
Kindergarten spelling practice focuses on the building blocks of reading and writing.
1st Grade
First graders build on early phonics skills, spelling simple words more independently and noticing common patterns.
2nd Grade
Second graders explore more advanced phonics patterns and become more flexible with how sounds can be spelled.
3rd Grade
Third graders tackle longer words, stronger pattern recognition, and more advanced spelling skills.
4th Grade
Fourth graders work with complex word parts and patterns that help them understand how words are built.
5th Grade
Fifth graders refine spelling with advanced vocabulary, word structure, and patterns used across subjects.
Spelling development does not always follow a perfect grade-by-grade path. It is completely okay to start with an earlier grade for review or move ahead when your child is ready for more of a challenge.
The goal is to meet your child where they are and help them build confidence one word at a time.
